veritas 8c and keypad?

i seem to have a problem with my veritas 8c i use the keypad more because when i moved in they put the big panel upstairs well it seems to be tampering i got told it could be the battery so i opened the panel and took the battery out and bang it never did it again but from reading diffrent forums i wasnt so keen to leave it with no battery so im thinking of getting a new 1 would this make my alarm tamper again
