engine makes a grinding noise when ticking over, revs can be a bit erratic, loud vibrating tapping noise on acceleration but stop when i take my foot off. took my car into a local rouge for a respray since then had nothing but trouble, bl**dy fuming and gutted!
unfortunately the noise i was hearing was described by the mechanic as growling! the big end had gone therefore i need a new engine.on a brighter note i know 2 scrap dealers who are replacing the engine for £150 all in so i,m well pleased. thank you for your help.

Sounds like he drove it a little harder than he needed too. Take it too a dealer and ask there opinion on the noise, I would go with new cam
