Wondering the same myself with a Whirlpool 931. Flashing Start led lamp.

I have an ADP 9620. The flashing start light indicates a fault. In my case I had a defective clamp hose causing a leak which filled the bottom tray and operated the cut-out switch.
It's worth a check as this is a cheap fix.

Fixed it. Hold the start button for 3 seconds and it will start.
