How do i silence my alarm when a power cut occurs?

If the keypad was dead and disconnecting the battery made no difference the battery is also dead. The battery should protect against short term power outage. The bell has its own battery and if the panel supply (mains and battery) is lost it will ring for approx 20 mins. The answer is get a new battery. The cost is about £15.
