ilera dna 125 starter problem?

hi i reasintly aded a question about my gilera dna 125 that it was raterling and nt goin fat but i started it 2day and it made a loud rattel and then just died instantly just like someting jamed it wil not start atall do any 1 have any idears coz i think i have 2 cancel the inshurance £200 or buy a new engine £500 or to get peraired i am short on money can any 1 help me please?

gt news of the garage yhey want £500 to fix it they said or a second hand engine for £400 wiv no garante. they said it wud take 4hours labour ti fit engine. is that true or are they rippin me off. please help .liam manchester 07516620485

ive got shed loads of engines and parts for the dna,s are you sure it was that low on oil? very explainable if so, but worth checkin the cam chain, if its an early one i used to do about 5-6 a week when they would go like elastic bands or just snap, if it does snap it basically wrecks the engine, have had some where they plough the valve heads right in about 3-4mm into the head good little money earners, lookin for bits give me a shout

the shop told me that i didnt have enuf oil and that made my crank break its £130 for it but it they can get hold of the parts i need a new engine

got taken in 2day he sayin drive belt and drive bearings might have gone the clutch and the starter motor has jamed?? dont no how that cud have hapened. il let youse no tho thanks for helpin

ok make sure they keep all the old parts that are damaged as they may try and con you and say they have changed parts that they havn't indeed done.let me know the outcome of it liam please.also i can get somes secondhand parts maybe if you need them.

it will be either a dropped valve or a broken rocker arm i expect.you need to take the rocker cover off and have a look its very common on this bike im afraid.

Hi, could be your engine has seized up, you may have had excessive piston and bore ware (piston slap,tinkling noise under acceleration) and possibly small end gone (rattling) If you can get the top end apart and the little end eye in the con rod looks OK, you may be able to get away with a rebore, new piston & rings, gudgeon pin and small end bearing for not too much cash. Better check that debris (broken rings,bits of piston) hasn't fallen into the crankcase, that won't be good! It'll cost much less than £500 if you DIY. Good luck.
