Mend La-Z-Boy

La-z-boy recliner handle?

I am replacing the handle on my rocker/recliner. I have removed the allen set-screw out of the end of the old one, but cannot get the handle off. How much force can be applied? I don't want to break something else.

Got tired of trying to find the answer, so I got brave. After removing the set screw in the end, I used the hammer handle to pry the old handle off. It took a few times on both sides, to do this. I pried against the frame for leverage.
Putting the new handle on required a couple of light taps with the hammer to get it all the way on the post. I then tightened the set screw down tightly. Good as new!
