Not sure about this. If you're saying that the keypad doesn't respond when you press a key then it sounds like it needs a service (possibly a failed back-up battery).
If the keypad is "chiming" whenever a zone is triggered, you can turn off the chime facility by pressing the bottom left "chime" button, and then zero then reset.
