The belt goes around the drum & also the motor pulley. Then two plastic tension pulleys pull together by a spring which tightens the belt. After putting belt on turn drum slowly by hand to make sure it lines itself up before starting motor. If you line the belt up and then start the motor and belt still jumps off then check the tension pulleys to make sure they are not worn or loose.
