Craftsman Gasoline Weedwacker Model no. 358.791070?

There is a seemingly insignificant ridge around the rope reel which wears down and doesn't keep the recoil spring in place, resulting in the spring coming out of its position. The part is from Sears Parts Direct # 545050408.

You need to either re tention the return spring or replace it, if you take the starter off always be aware there will be a large recoil spring under the pulley, always wear eye protection when working on starters, to re tention the spring insert the cord into the cut a way in the pulley, now wind the pulley up against spring tention, do not over wind the spring as this will coil bind it and pull the ends out, tention just enough to retract the cord fully.
