Mend Siemens SN23312 Grinding Type Noise

how can i fix my siemens sn23312 dishwasher?

when turned on my dishwasher makes a grinding type of noise. the programme dial does not click automatically through the cycle and water does not come in, not sure if the pumps is ok as there is a small amount of water left in the bottom where the filter goes.
