I have recently bought a horsebox on a 1985 Ford Cargo 1013 (down rated to 7.5 ton) chassis. It had a new MOT when I bought it but it takes several attempts before the handbrake operates and I hear the air noise. Is there a "knack" with these old lorries or have I a problem please?
Thank you, Ghost, but this happens when the lorry has been running for a while. it is not that the brake will not release, it does not come on straight away and can take a few attempts.

when starting most hgv's with air assisted brake's you will need to run it for a short while for the air to build up before the brake's will release,this a good thing at least you know your brake's work
