maytag dishwasher series 300, resets it's own cycle?

We have a maytag dishwasher series 300 that keeps switching itself to rinse only cycle. The other cycles won't select or if they do, it will start and then flip to rinse only. The soap dispenser doesn't open then and the dishes aren't clean. Sometimes it works fine, seems to be getting more often that it doesn't work. Help!
