how to fix Hotpoint DC28 dishwasher?

The prewash light is flashing and what sounds like a pump is still working, but nothing else is going on when I try to start the machine.
I've found another person who asked the same question. The solution seemed to be in resetting the anti flood device, by tilting the machine backwards 45%. I did this and the machine now seems to be working fine. However when I tilted it backwards some water leaked from the back of the machine in two places. My question is: Should I expect the machine to leak when I do this, or does it suggest that there is a problem with some element of the machine and I should expect further problems down the line.
