2.5 litre (engine with cambelt) Transit diesel timing is set by using metal pins alinged in holes in camshaft and diesel pump pulleys, and a pin inserted into flywheel just below fuel filter, a timing kit is available from the internet .
The later 2.4 Durotec engine (with chain) has a similar setup of pins but normally never needs setting unless you disturb the pump.
