Mend Citroen Relay 2.5 Fuel Pump

Need help with citroen relay van 2.5 on a 51 plate!!!?

I have recently removed the fuel pump from my 2.5 diesel citroen relay van to replace a part on the pump.Ive put it all back together and now it is under powered and smoking realy bad.Ive been told that the pump needs to be calibrated now that it has been off.Can anyone tell me for deffo what needs to be done please.Before i took the pump off it was running sweet as a nut and ive not changed any major parts.Thanks,steve rose.

Steve more likely your pump timing is out i bet u didnt use a timing tool did you .did u even mark it up with tipex.youll need to get yourself a wee timing kit from sealey or draper or even laser products.

tools need mechanics.Snap On i own the best.Please dont ask to borrow.
