How to replace a light panel in a Samsung HP-R24252 Flatscreen TV?

Samsung HP-R4252 with a light panel problem. Causes picture to be cloudy and vivid red throughout screen. TV Mfg in 2005. Received an estmate of $450 to repace the Light Panel. Is this worth fixing because of its age? Thanks for you answer.
