Sounds a bit suspicious, I would ask the same question at the shop where you purchased the machine or another engineer in your area. All motors have carbon brushes and I would certainly check this and the drive belt first.

hi,
i spoke to an engineer and he said that my samsung washing machine does not have any brushes... i mentioned about the belt and he said that it could be that or something more serious... is he just looking for a bigger payout???????

It will probably be your drive belt has broken or the carbon brushes in the motor are worn and need to be replaced. Have a look at this website www.apart4u.co.uk, it shows you short video clips on how to carry out these sort of repairs.
