I used my laptop through satallite connection now it won't work!!?

Hi Im having trouble with my laptop, i recently lived in bulgaria for 6 months and to get internet I connected through the satellite in the village. A man came round, typed something into my laptop and then I had internet through satellite.
I have now got home and tried to connect through my regular bt wifi and even though my laptop says its connected, when i type in address it says page not found!
Is this because my laptop is looking for the pages in a differnt way? can I undo whatever the guy typed into the settings?
I have tried all the usual boxes and even checked them upagainst my friends pc so its all the same boxes checked/unchecked! - ps i have used my friends comp to post this....any help is greatly appreciated!!
