Scantronic 9800 question?

We get no error code but alarm will not set.

With doors shut as required for the alarm when leaving premises, we type in code and press A. System beeps and panel just displays two dashes "--", no error code.

I need to move the keypad about 2" down, how do you get past the tamper alarm going off ? is the panel just a press fit in the housing?

I turned off the power, opened the white box, internal alarm rang, i disconnected the battery then removed the NVM chip.

This chip has 4 pins either side. On one side 1 was bent over, on the other 3 were bent over. Fairly sure i did not bend them taking it off - came off straight. Would it be normal to have pins bent for functios not used?

Replaced NVM and plugged in battery. internal alarm did not ring - turned back on power. typing at keypad just sounds beep - whatever key..

0 7890 does nothing. Entering my code then 0 7890, the 89 combination causes a bell check which works.

I am thinking I need to turn power off, disconnect battery in white wall box, then reconnect and turn power back on. Read that this would reset to factory default... am i correct?

tried 0 7890 and nothing happened - when you say 0 space 7890 - do you mean just type 07890?

that is the default code for the 9800,you should get an :E:on the display,if your alarm company has not changed the code

then the b partion is not programmed then,do you happen to have the engineering code for your system?

To clarify,

Continuous tone was with A

With B we just get the red light

When you say let it time out - i assume you mean just leave it making to tone till it stops?

Peter Debrun
November 2010
a contin tone means its setting, have you let it time out on b?

gts
November 2010
Continuous tone rather than a beep, dashes are at bottom, tried B and all that happened is red light came on beside b. entering code clears.

are the dashes at the middle or the bottom?

gts
November 2010
you either have a fault on the keypad,or the programming has been lost, has the b partion been prog?try putting in your pin, oress b see what happens
