Latest - I agree with postings elsewhere - if you fit an up to date dvd drive, the fast forward function causes the machine to freeze -you need to un-plug and re-start - often with a hard disk scan - what a pain!

It really is a shame - the machine generally performs really well - I will run it until I can afford something similar with Freeview

After my last reply - I had forgotten to add you MUST play the new drive in a PC with a retail DVD to set region codes - otherwise the drive will not play them when back in the machine - this also appears to cure the start up problems - all seems to be running fine now - just need to sort out the cooling / fan!

Got another Liteon dvd drive - it fitted (eventually - lot of cutting, filing and swearing) - works fine - all controls etc. - faster burn speed than the old one - now machine keeps failing on power up (have to pull out power lead) - may need to re-boot with software

The dvd drive on mine has failed - the drive is very similar to a pc internal drive (only looks cheap and plastic) - I tried my philips out of my pc and it worked fine (except for the "close" function) - I am geting another liteon drive and will make it fit
