Water leakon Triton Rapide 3?

I am a getting water leaking from what seems to be a flange inbetween the two shower controls.
I don't know what it does, and am not 100% sure that is the source of the leak.
Any suggestions, it looks like I may have to take off the top control 'stuff' before I can get to this.
