How can I fix my MGA/Mitsubishi TV, Model #CS1944R?

Have a 1" black Horizontal line at the top of the picture. Have been told some sort of filter, which is inexpensive, will repair problem. Also, another identical model has developed a 1" vertical line on the R side. Both sets have excellent sound and color. Where are these filters located, what is the names and can I replace them myself or is this a Shop job?

Mitsubishi Video, Televisions Model Told Sort

I have the same TV set with the same problem. Bought new in 1986 (my first set) and has performed reliably until this black band issue. Would be great to find out what the fix is.
