2000 ford focus 1.8 td, Brake problem after reversing?

This is driving me daft, can anyone help? I can start the car and drive normally as long as im driving forwards, the brakes work fine. If i reverse, the brakes work fine. however if i got forwards again after braking the brakes are very spongy and low. It just doesnt seem to make sense. Any help greatly appreciated. thanks

I wondered if it was the wrong size shoes fitted but the last time they were fitted it was done by a garage so just assumed they would ensure they were correct.
The wheel bearings have all been replaced in the last 18 months and i only do approx 5000 miles a year in it... i just wanna try and get it sorted as i want to sell her on.
Ill have to take the pads off and have a look. They are not that expensive to buy and ill fit them myself this time.

Ill have a look at the back shoes as well to see. just wanted to see if anyone else had had a similar problem before i started spending the day trying to find the problem.

Thanks

i think it is one of the return springs on the rear brake shoes, this would cause no pressure in the cyl,as the return spring would not force the shoes back, hence soft pedal, just a thought !

sounds like there could be wrong size shoes fitted,or excess play in one or more wheel bearings?
