How can I fix a dent and rip on a waverunner?

I have a dent and a tear about 2" long on the underside of the front in a waverunner. How can
I pull the dent out and repair the rip?

If your watercraft is a Yamaha Waverunner it may be made from SMC. If it is made with SMC you should get SMC resin. Evercoat makes all the products you would need. While almost anyone could do a small fiberglass repair it would probably be a good idea to leave it to a professional (if you can afford it). If you cannot afford a pro here are some basic guidelines: 1) Grind out the delaminated (broken) fiberglass. You may choose to leave a very very thin layer if possible to use as a backing for laying up your replacement fiberglass. 2) Grind out about 3-5 inches around the area. Close to the hole will be very thin and as you go further out it will gradually become thicker. Doing this will make the repair thick in the middle where yiou need the most material and provide the surface area needed to give good adhesion (AKA it will make the repair strong). 3) Prepare your fiberglass in the sizes that you will need. Ex. your two inch hole will probably become 4 inches of so (if not more). And your entire repair area will be about 3-5 inches furth out than the initial 4 inches (making the new repair area about 6-9 inches.
-Cut 1st piece of fiberglass slightly bigger than the hole,
-2nd 5 inches,
-3rd 6 inches,
-4th 7 inches, and so on as needed.
4) Remember: you must sand the area that you intend to put the fiberglass. Wet out the entire are with catalyzied SMC? resin with a fresh paint brush.
5) Then place the 1st piece of fiberglass on the repair and brush it until completly wet with resin. 6) Same thing with the next layer and so on until you are done. Also remember, you are working against the clock. If you are not quick enough mixing the resin and catylist or you take too long laying up the glass the resin will "kick off" in the cup (AKA become very hard and HOT) Obviously this is a bad thing because you will waste the resin.
7) An hour or so after you did this your repair should be sandable. Sand it with 40 grit paper to your desired contour and fill in any irregularities with filler. Using filler will ensure that your repair is waterproof and provide a nice smooth surface to prime and paint.
8) Finish sand filler with 80 grit and then 180 grit.
9) Primer 2-3 coats (waiting 15-20 between each coat)
10) about 2 hours after you spray the primer you can sand the primer with 320 grit or wet sand with 400
11) Spray 2-3 coats of paint (waiting about 15-20 minute between each coat)

These are basic instructions and like I said, it would probably be better to just give it to the pros. Good luck! And please let me know how it works out. If you have anymore questions or need more detail just post it and I will help out.
