how can i fix my 35 classic briggs &stratton lawn mower ?

May need a service- my mower- same model is doing exactly the same. Hubby has been doing some research on-line & needs to check the engine- you can pick up a new spark plug & service kit for about £20- but there was a choice of 2- so he's going to check the engine number etc to ensure we get the right one. My mower is 7 years old and this is the first time we've had a problem. Good luck

Black smoke is often a sign of unburnt fuel or too much fuel.
Chech that choke is off also check for blocked air intake ie air filter.
Or
if you have adjusted the fuel you have set it too rich.
