dishwasher not draining completely, stops it restarting?

My dishwasher model No. is Hotpoint BFI680, There was water lying in the bottom after a wash and it couldn't be restarted, I cleaned it out and took out the drain pump and connected it up to 240volt and it ran OK, I also checked the pipework out for any blockages, it all looked OK, I put it back together and tried it out it went through a wash cycle everthing looked OK, but there was still a lot of water in the bottom, and it will not start now, I took all the water out and still it will not start,
