Mend Qualcast Broke Replaced Belt

Qualcast Scarifier not working?

I have had a problem with my Qualcast scarifier where the pinion had broke so I replaced the part. Now although that turns the belt does not.

Will I need to also replace the belt?

The roller/spikes go round but soon as I put it on the ground it stops working. The motor is still running. What is the course of action I should take.
