hoover vhc381?

My Hoover VHC381 stopped working, I took the top off and tried again, it would only work by manullay pushing the drum and then it works fine, do tumble dryers have starter motors and where would this be?

Gee Wizz thats a lot of disassembly most machines you can just take the top and side panels off to get to the motor. I have the same issue what a pain.

hi, they have 7 or 8 uf capacitor fitted directly to the motor this provides the extre power needed to start the induction motor with a full load. it bolts to a bracket on the side of the motor, I find it easer to take the drum out, take the top off, take the control panel off (via the 2 screws 1 on the left and 1 on the right side) the control panel has clips on it so don't pull it off, lift it away from the casing at the top and the clips will release, take the door and outer front panal off two screws at the top and two screws underneth were the condensor unit is (you will have to remove the door and you will have to undo the trox headed screws, once you've done this and removed the front panel then you will see a plastic inner panel remover this but be awere 4 plastic clips that are very easily broken the way to release these is simple but care should be taken , undo the screws and slide the panel up this will release the bottom clips, lower the panel just a bit and pull out to around 45 degrees and lower the panel further and away, you will need to remove the casing on the back to gain actcess to the heater, undo all the screws for this panel, undo the 2 screws that secure the heater and lift up wards, there is 2 further screws to release the drum 1 directly above the heater and the other is hiden under the heater, once this is done the drum can be moved forward slide the drive belt off the drum and remove the drum out of the front of the dryer you will see the motor and the capacitor bolted to the ducting in the bottom. I hope this helps follow the above in revease order to refit. take photos of any wires before you remove them to aid refitting.
