diesel megane scenic 1.9 td We got the car with an intermitant fault, it would start with lots of white smoke but run ok when hot! this put us of in the wrong direcion looking at injectors, fuel pump, air filter and fuel filter. we finaly found there was a small leek in the fuel line allowing a small quantity of air into the line. i hope this helps someone.

White smoke, or more like grey/white smoke means oil burning.
It could be as simple as the oil being over filled.
Or, it could be bad rings and or cylinder bore.
