how can i fix my astra`s broken gear selector?

hi my gear selector on my mk4 astra 2001 is broken well the part thats holds it in place is broken its like a white ring that goes around the gear stick and it connects to a rod that goes into the engine does anybody know how i can change this part and what it is called thanks in advance
