No Power to scantronic 9452?

I have been having problems with sticking buttons so decided to open control box and give it a good clean. After reconnecting battery and fuse I have lost green power light although unit is warm indicating that the power is getting through. Could anyone please help me?

Wow ive just caught up with this thread, Alfie, you are just like the many people who phone me from this site, I would say hand on heart the engineers writing on this thread are very experienced people, I doubt you will ever find Alarm engineers in the UK with more experience than us. We are so passionate about what we do, in our spare time we offer free support.
Alfie your now stuck, as we will NOT help you and so you will be charged big bucks to resolve your problems by some independant who will send some in-experienced lad out to try and solve the problem.
Good Luck

Funnily enough the van is white, and the car.
Who`s the idiot who cannot read a manual?

Its a 9452, not a space shuttle.
Work it out yourself now :D

Who is this idiot calling himself ALARM? A white van man with no work perhaps?

I understand what you are saying, that when the fuse is connected I should see a green light ( I have the manual and I agree it says just as you do, that power on means green light) When I switch on the power i.e replace fuse, I got a a couple of flashing lights, then nothing.

I left the fuse out overnight and have just tried again and, low and behold I have lights and buzzers which were stopped by entering our 4 digit code. It is now showing a light at ( phone) and one of the zones. I think I must now reset. Any help on that please?

You said
"I have been having problems with sticking buttons so decided to open control box and give it a good clean. After reconnecting battery and fuse I have lost green power light although unit is warm indicating that the power is getting through. Could anyone please help me?"

Please indicate where you said "warm and it cools down when I remove the DC fuse".

I quoted directly from the manual "Apply mains to the control panel or end station. The green “Power” LED will illuminate" - conversely,
Remove mains to the control panel or end station. The green "Power" LED will extinguish.

Meaning, there is NO mains supply to your control panel.

If you take a fuse out of your radio it'll stop playing and it will COOL DOWN, replace fuse it will start to play again AND it will warm up.

Same as anything electrical.

If you don't want help or are not able to accept help, why ask in the first place?

Refer to my 1st post.

Thanks for your invaluable help especially ACORN who is so full his of self importance he must be close to bursting. IF SOMEONE GENUINELY WANTS TO HELP WITH THIS, THEN I WOULD BE GRATEFUL.
As I said the unit is warm and it cools down when I remove the DC fuse. The question I m asking is how do I overcome this please?

F**K me another "Expert", why did he bother asking.
Quite right lads, looking at a fuse isnt a test. meter required.
Again any voltage cam kill as rightly said.

And again its in the fookin manual. I`d say the DC fuse has blown, its warm because the transformer is running, on 230VAC, touch that clever dick, you might not be posting ever again!

FFS they never stop coming do they.

alfie has no idea acorn, you can be killed by 12 volts ,he thinks 240 volts is lethal,as it is,but 12 volts can see you off just as fast,in the right circumstances,i knew a guy who put a 9 volt battery on his tongue to test it,the voltage stopped his heart,so alfie, acorn or the rest of the guys on here do not patronise,we try keep idiots like you from killing yourselves, but.if our advice not good enough for you, have a happy death, just dont take customers with you,

One last thing.

Scantronic panels are in the top ten and if one tells you that something is wrong, it is.

No Mains on light = NO mains

Then I suggest you go and read your manual to find that it will tell you that (direct quote from manual) "Apply mains to the control panel or end station. The green “Power” LED will illuminate" - convinced now?

Another thing, I know what I'm talking about. I'm an alarm engineer by trade.

Looking at a fuse will NOT tell you that it is ok, a meter is required. Possibly broke when re-inserted, = NO mains to panel.

ps Never had an electric shock? Lucky you.

I know, sorry, knew someone who did, they are no longer with us.

So even if you feel I've been patronizing, I don't apologize, I'm writing from experience here.

I wouldn't call removing a fuse and dissconecting a battery "playing with electricity" I thought this site was here to help folk resolve problems, not patronise them!!!

I'm sorry, but, "unit is warm indicating that the power is getting through" is NO INDICATION as to whether power is on/off.

Please never play with electricity, you obviously don't know what you are doing.

Electricity KILLS .

By the way in your manual it will tell you that the green light being out signifies that there is NO mains supply to your panel.

Please get someone in before you're sorry.
