How to fix my Beko WM 6152 W washing machine?

When I switch on the machine three lights come on; 'Ready', 'Pause/cancel' & 'Wash'. After a few seconds the 'Ready' light goes out and then the pump starts for a few seconds then switches off. It then does nothing for several minutes till the pump starts again for a few seconds and then goes off again. This is all it will do, I have checked the filter which seems ok.
