sony generation 2 cd 6 cd player?

can some one help i have a 2007 mondeo new, its the new shape mondeo est if that helps the sony gen2 cd player shows a fault (drive fault it makes no sound as it usually does and i cannot eject the cds all six of them .help!

From other posts on here, looks like you need to reset the system by powering down.. but I've seen people say one has to be careful when doing this as it can lose other essential settings and the like..
