WHY WOULD SOMEONE PUT A SCREW UNDER A LABEL????????? Well, after a bit of work I was able to unclog the shredder and it's working again. Thank you for telling us about the screw under the label.

Paul,

Thanks for the tip about the hidden screw under the label! I fixed my jam in about 5 minutes.

Slightly off topic but this thread helped me with my P600C-2 it also has a screw under the bar code. This model has 7 screws including the hidden one!

It seems every electronic thing has a screw UNDER a sticker - that way the manufacturer knows if it has been taken apart.

Mine had paper jammed in it and after removing the jam, it ran but didn't shred. I went out and got an Office Max shredder and that one lasted about 2 months and the motor burnt out, so I decided to take the Fellowes apart again (the Fellowes lasted about a year and a half) and found the drive gear stripped about an inch since it was made of some type of plastic.

Now I need to decide whether to take the motor out of the Fellowes and replace the OM motor or try to find the gear for the Fellowes - I am not going to buy another shredder...

Both shredders failed due to too many sheets being shredded at once.

There are 5 not 4 screws that have to be removed. The fifth one is under the paper tag on the bottom of the shredder.

Del Frost,

Thanks for your insight, as this proved confounding to me as well and I didn't want to just 'use more force' as the saying goes. Thanks to you my shredder is working again.

You may also find, as I did that, the two halves of the case are glued together. My Fellowes P500 shredder doesn't shred properly, only creasing the paper. Deciding that, if I couldn't fix it, I would bin it, I prised it apart despite hearing ominous cracking sounds. After cleaning out all the paper strips, I reassembled it. NB. It needs the screws tightened to pull the halves completely together. It still won't shred so in the bin it goes. My next shredder WILL NOT be made by Fellowes in China or otherwise.

I've just encountered the same question.

On the basis that my shredder was broken anyway, I decided, in the name of scientific research, to pull a bit harder.

It was then that I noticed an extra screw hidden under the sticker with the bar code on it, to the left by the grill.

Removing that allowed the two parts to come apart easily.
