how do i change the belt on my hoover elite model u4641-930?

that is the question. i am afraid i will destroy the bottom of the vacuum if i continue. where does the belt attach? i have taken a flashlight to help look underneath, but do NOT see where the belt goes, or even where it can be attached! help. i have had this vacuum cleaner more than 10 years and the motor is great...lots of power. this is my last hope before tossing it in the trash and buying a new one!

Yes, Paul was right on how to remove the brush roll, but he didn't mention how to get to the motor shaft.
To do that you have to get the vacuum TOP cover off and there aren't screws involved. You have to look all around the bottom part of the vacuum for more tabs to unlock. Two on the left side, two on the right side. Then pull from the front of the bottom and the top will come off revealing the motor shaft.
This is a great vacuum, we have had it for 16 years and we bought it used! Still working really good.

ok, where is the motor shaft end? i got the brush cover off, removed the roller, and how do i get the rest of the cover off to SEE the motor shaft? (PS I am a different customer with the same problem.) where can I get a diagram/user guide for it?

use a screw driver to unlock the tabs on the brush roll cover. closely look at the brush roll ends so you get them back to the same position. remove brush roll. loop belt over the motor shaft. loop belt over the brush roll. stretch belt and replace brush roll. always save the owners manual.
