Zannusi condensor dryer drum dropped when replacing rear bearing?

i had a noise in my dryer and thought it was the rear bearing, when the part arrived and i came to fit it the drum had dropped down i fitted the part by lifting the shaft to enable me to align the new bearing now the noise is even worse can you please tell me what else is wrong is it the shaft or something else? Dryer is 9 years old TCE 7124w model and has been a great buy it is worth fixing
