If you have checked the power point by plugging in another appliance & that works then power is getting to the machine. If 3 pin plug & lead are not damaged then I would say that the control module has been damaged and will have to be replaced. Fairly expensive repair for a model that is 18 years old.

Get yourself a test/multimeter,

use it to find where the power starts and stops,you can also use it to check any wiring for breakages on the continuity setting.

don't forget to try another appliance in the machines plug socket,
don't overlook the obvious,
