RENAULT Megane steering wheel squeek?

Hiya all, i had a new indicator stalk fitted recently to my Megane it`s been fine for about a month but the steering wheel has just started annoyingly squeeking on every turn, could i spray round the wheel with silicon spray or would this damage the electrics, is there an easy fix for this or do i have to take all the plastic cover off to investigate what is causing the squeek. thanks in advance if you can advise on this.
