focus 51 plate fob problem?

i have a second hand fob -same number as my old one - which i swapped key + glass tube -- these work fine - but doors wont lock/ un lock - remotely - have tried that ( back an forth ) 4 times ,, can here the beep - wen i push a button nothing happens ????? plz help
