how can i fix my hotpoint first edition washing machine?

my washing machines drum is really loose and there is a big knocking sound when spinning. it is also really noisy because of this, can you help?

sounds like the drum bearings have gone,

open the door and place two fingers behind the lip of the drum at the six o'clock position and lift up,

if you feel any movement then the bearings have gone.

Bearing replacement is a big job,

the machine will require a full strip down,although its a easy procedure, its time consuming.
