Mend Briggs & Stratton 946SP Engine Carburetor Lawn Mower

how can i fix my briggs & stratton 946sp?

after a few minutes running the engine will die and refuse to restart. on removing the sparkplug it is sooted up and wet with petrol as if the engine is on choke. the carb is factory set with no provision for adjustment as far as i know.i have cleaned the coil and reset the airgap to no avail. dont know if i have a carburettor fault or a coil thats failing.
