Flexible shaft in Curved Ryobi 30CESA broken - how do I remove and replace?

First time I used it - didn't wind the cord correctly (stupidly left instruction book at home) cord wrapped around shaft and locked the drive shearing the flexible shaft in the lower section. I have ordered new flexi-drive but have attempted to remove the old one and cannot see how it comes out - anybody help please?
