Have you had the power off ,or had a power cut?.

Those old optimas do what you describe when the backup battery is goosed mate,

any ideas when it was last changed?

If you can't reset ,or the keypad is unresponsive then that's a good indication of your battery status, and your's sounds cream crackered mate.
