my lcd clock display in Peugeot 206?

My clock display in my car is showing the time but really faintly, so i went and changed the bulb but still the same. So then went and bought a new fitting of lcd clock display and fitted it and its still the same the clock works but you can hardly see the time. really dont know what to do now.
