mculloch m3540p choke operation?

hello the mower starts and runs well for ~2-3mins,then splutters - cleaned filter,new plug,cleaned exhaust manifold.my ? is can anyone tell me how the main spring on the choke should be located - photo would be great!

Phil thanks for responding - briggs and stration(it has a Husquvana sticker on it).fuel cap removal didnt change operation. it runs great for 2-5 mins then revs drop as in tickover mode - still cuts!

Before you start worrying about carburettor problems, suggest you check that the fuel cap is properly vented. Remove it and let the engine run. If it doesn't die after 5 mins, replace the cap.

Top the tank right up before trying this.

There is no choke as such on any version of this mower that I've seen. How old is it, and what engine is fitted?
