Powermax 155 mixer valve design?

I have a Powermax 155 boiler. It has a mixer valve supplying DHW. Mine allows hot water to descend into the cold side of the valve, which gives no chance initially for cold water to mix with hot for a few seconds. Is this valve designed to stop this with a non return valve on the cold side?
