if one side of the electric element of a tefal toaster shorts can it be rep?

i have a tefal avanti deluxe toaster type 5327.16 series 315E and the elements on one side ( which toasts two slices) shorted. can it be replaced ? in fact this is the second one that has shorted and i cant bear to waste them. i can probably take them apart but can i order replacement elements and is it do-able by a reasonably competent DIY person?and who supplies such elements and is it costly? is the job worth it compared with the price of a new one?sorry too many questions
