CD player not functioning good?

I have an AIWA Mod#CX-NA31 stero combo 3 disc player an double tape deck etc. Every thing seems to work O.K. except cd player. When I press play button,disc tray revolves and stops on each cd for about 3 seconds then goes to the next cd,does the same and then to 3rd cd and stops w/o making any sound on any of the cd's. I tried to clean l the cd lens but maybe not enough. Is this a mechanical problem or can I do somthing to correct it?Thanks if you can help. Richard.
