door catch not engaging on Indesit WIE 167?

The door catch on my washing machine is still in one piece, and the spring is working, but I can't get the door to close properly. The metal catch won't push in fully, so the machine won't start.
There is a screw to each side of the catch hole in the body of the machine. Are these for adjusting the catch in the socket? The machine is working perfectly and this door catch problem seems to be entirely mechanical.
