I've got a Hotpoint CDT00 Condenser dryer which will not heat How do I fix?

My Dryer tumbles and turns but won't dry due to the fact it won't heat - is it possible to repair?

Hello there, This is definatly the fix for fixing the heating problem forementioned but could somebody tell me what has happened if everytime i press the little reset switch, i have heat for one load and then it trips again, can anybody help please?

MAybe it is the trip switch

This is "Handily" contained in the rear of the tumbler.

To access follow these simple steps.

1 TURN OFF!!!!! (obvious but I amost forgot one day!)

2 Remove little knobbly cover on back secured by two screws.

3 Remove big funny shaped cover on back , a fair few screws.

4 carefully remove heating element (two screws)

5 there are two little round thingies (about the size of a penny piece) one has a bluish lillacy, kind of pale dot on it and a hole in the middle. Get a pin and put it in the hole until you hear a click.

6 carefully reassemble

7 turn on.

8 heat.....

9 nice one.

Thanks for the advice Steve - I managed to fathom out using a circuit tester that it was one of the solenoids that prevent the heaters from overheating - it was broken so I replaced it with one from another (broked) dryer and - touch wood - it works fine.

The heating element may have burnt out
The elec may not be reaching the element

Can you check the continuity of the element when the terminal wires are removed (no break in curcuit?)
Can you find which wires are which at the heater terminal and are they supplying the electricity when the heater is reqd? - you MAY have 2 curcuits ...warm & hot.

Don't attempt if you are not used to working with electricty!

These 2 questions should lead you up the correct path. Sometimes wires break with the repeated 'bouncing' of the washers.
